Content - the old game...
Yup, christmas is coming. Everybody has much spare time i guess and HCS is giving us ... um... yeah... champions. Errhm, not quite what i expected. Lets see how many players drop out during this time, getting bored at EOC. Hmm BG talked about the new content arriving not before january, because of all the champs and new things in SS2. And he said something about new features arriving SS2 before christmas (hey, at least before new content), im wondering what that will be. PvP maps for slaughterfest? Extended possibilities for Behemoths? Hmmm...
And the new champions?
At first i was pretty happy about them and the new gear/drops. But as most of them drop "only" weapons its getting a bit boring. And to some extend the weapons are not that much better than the existing gear. Sigh. The only good drop i saw till now is the Shamans Calcified Scullcap, a helmet with 189 DEF and 138 DMG. Pretty useful, even for hunting. But other than that...
And im wondering how all this is lowering the amount of work the HCS team has to do on SS2, as the original argument was that "... it takes too much time to make all that pics for the extracts..." and so on. I dont see it right now.
Finally, the gear drops have reached end of content. I have tried it and i have to say: embarassing. I still dont like it but what can we do?

Re: Content - the old game...
I for one am impressed with Zaelin's artwork, and have posted this to her, especially the artwork on LaReina, the Psyker in the "A Tiresome Task" mission.
However, I do agree with you, Nestor. Champions are nice, but only if they add a fresh idea to the game. Why can't HCS do something like add a tough Champion or Elite, who has a small chance to drop an Intensifier or what-ever Stim (The drop rate not being affected by FI or SCAVENGER). Something like that, even though perhaps not feasable, would certainly inject a bit of longevity and reasn to the constant Champion additions.
The contentlessness will make it so that many players will reach the end of the content, and get the "unfinished webcomic" syndrome, where it takes forever to get another page to read. I'm all for HCS' decision to not add content now, IF they bring out, say, 30 levels worth of Content in the new year at once.
Or, if they redo the skill tree too, to add some new skills. Being that I am at level 141 now, it doesn't affect me much. Top level players can always go hunt Behemoths or HK's, but even that gets stale sooner rather than later. HCS is a company, first and foremost. A company can only survive on clients. Clients stay only when they are satisfied. Your bigger clients (in this case, the lvl 190+ players) are the ones who carry the company through the tough times. I realize that HCS wants to inject new blood into the game, but honestly, if you're going to window dress with your top clients with promises of things that can't realize, then rather don't make promises, and surprise us with top quality changes to the game.
I love this game, and probably won't ever quit, but I (and some other players) am probably part of the minority, and the majority unfortunately rules. If the bigger guys all quit, this game is scr**ed...

I am still trying to come to terms with the new game.
I am going after Allrogh´s mistress at the moment and on my way, I have killed some Kama Champs. This has given me an insight into one of the new challenges of Sigma. In 'the old days', we could buy the base items for HK/elite pieces in the shops. Now, we have to find and kill the right entity to get it as a drop. Annoying when you need just that drop, but nonetheless a new challenge, that ensures the need for FI and the difficulty in building the HK/elite sets. It serves a purpose for the idle Trade Hub as well.
For the first time ever, I have reached EOC. It´s a whole new experience and I am excited about all the energy I suddenly have. So far, I am spending it hunting the Wench and after that, I must try that infamous task of subleveling.
I do understand the frustrations about lack of content. However, I must disagree with the statement, that the game is screwed, if the top players quit because of it. A game can´t exist on 100-200 big donators. There has to be a mass of smaller players, who donate now and then, because they are having a good time. These players are the solid base and long term investment, that Sigma needs so badly at the moment.
For the same reason, Sigma needs to be fun for the smaller players, who doesn´t enjoy upgrades for several thousands of crystals and all the new and best gear. Some players are driven by ambitions, while others are driven by other motivations. Sigma needs all of them and if the Cows design and tweak the game to fit the needs and wishes of the top players, the bulk of smaller adventurers will be lost. If a few big donators leave, the game will survive, but if we don´t get new players moving towards L100, it won´t.
By that I don´t ditch the need for content, because we still need that badly. Hopefully, the streamlining will make it easier for the Cows to make 10 new levels. We will have to wait and see in the new year.
